Church Deacons

Deacons are servant-leaders. The word Deacon comes from the Greek ‘Diakonos’ meaning servant. Deacons are servants in the church who assist in the operations of the church and promote its growth by using their leadership gifts and skills.

Along with the Church Minister, the deacons form part of the Church leadership. The deacons meet a few times a year to discuss important matters relating to the church.

The Church members directly elect the deacons through a Church member's meeting. Prior to the Deacon's election, the candidate must firstly be nominated by a church member and give their consent for their name to be entered into the ballot. All newly appointed deacons are initially appointed for a three year term. There is no maximum term that an individual can serve on the Diaconate, hence they have the opportunity to be nominated for reappointment at the end of each three year term that they complete. (This is subject to them being reappointed by the church members at the end of every three year term)

At Kenton Baptist Church, our Deacons work together as a team to care for and support the church family. They don’t have individual roles, but as a group they offer prayer, support and help to everyone. If you’re new or just visiting, you’ll find a very warm welcome.

Karen Hogge

Karen serves as Church secretary. She became a baptised believer in Christ in April 2013. In terms of hobbies, she enjoys singing, acting and dancing (She is a member of an amateur musical theatre).

Beverly became a baptised believer in Christ in June 2010. Her hobbies include crafting, reading, dancing and travelling.

Neva Evans

Neva became a baptised believer in Christ in December 1950. Her hobbies are reading, completing crosswords, knitting & crochet.

John Woodgate

John serves as the building premises manager. He became a baptised believer in Christ in July 1976. His hobbies include cars and driving; sport in general but football in particular; coin, stamp and model car collecting, hill walking and gardening (when he gets the chance).

Welcome to Kenton Baptist Church. Thank you for taking the time to explore our website. The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where are we located and how do I get to Kenton Baptist Church ?

We are situated on Streatfield Road (Kenton) opposite Uppingham Avenue.

If you are planning to drive to us, our address is Kenton Baptist Church, Streatfield Road, Kenton, HA3 9BS. Please click here if you are using Google Maps to navigate to us.

Where and When

Our Sunday service begins at 10:30 am. We have plenty of parking spaces available on the church premises. We also offer a disabled parking space for blue badge holders. When you arrive, you will be warmly greeted by someone from our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service (and sometimes even cake !). It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings.

Accessibility

There is wheelchair access, and the church operates a ‘loop’ system for those with impaired hearing. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled toilet in the main foyer.

We have space available in the main Church sanctuary for wheelchairs & pushchairs.

Our Service

The Sunday service begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from our Pastor followed by a call to worship. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our worship team. Our Pastor or a visiting preacher will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final song.

Our communion service takes place on the third Sunday of every month. The communion wine that we serve is alcohol free and the bread is gluten free.
